Most active IRC client on the market. I miss the logs of Linkinus maybe twice a month but 5 euros for all that work = TAKE MY MONEY. Thx Mr Morris. :)

Très bon client, cette version apporte des améliorations perceptibles mais … toujours ce souci de décryptage pour les « blowfish » avec ce genre de message quand ça ne fonctionne pas: "Decryption failed. When attempting to decrypt, 2 bad sections were found and were unable to be repaired. »
Despite the settings being identical, Textual half the time won’t connect to EFnet while the not so polished but free Limechat reliably connects instantly every single time. I can’t tell whats the exact reason for that, but it seems likely that this is a very annoying Textual issue.
Textual is by far the best IRC client for my needs. It is quite flexible and powerful, yet it has a beautiful, simple and customizable interface that makes using IRC great fun. On top of that, they have great and quick support!
Textual 5 is the best IRC client on OS X
So far it’s gorgeous! love it! not what I’m used to with mIRC but it’s a great design by Apple standards.
Haha for those few people that had said that this does not compare to mIRC or Irssi? I think you need to lay off the dope. Because this is the best IRC Client I have ever seen, and it blows that plain crappy PC looking mIRC client out of the water, bar NONE!! Also, I have to mention that the coders who coded this IRC Client for Mac OS X did a REALLY good job, like honestly when some of you said mIRC is better? That had to be a joke… I’ve been using IRC sinced the early 1990s and IRC also blows social media out of the water as well. $5 is not a lot to ask compared to what Onno Tidget wanted for Ircle, which does not even come close to as good as this Client at all. Excellent job, and please keep this IRC Client alive on Mac OS X, because it makes Windows users jealous they have to use a borrowing old IRC Client with an @ symbol next to the operators name… and no eye candy. Well, Microsoft never was good at any eye candy.
Pretty good.
I have been using Textual for several years now. It was great when I first started using it and it is continuously improving it. The interface is very clean and intuitive, as well as fast and responsive. It has all the features I need in an irc client without being bloated. I also appreciate the ease with which themes can be edited, so it is easy to make it look just how you want it. Textual has a very active irc channel on Freenode, which is a great place to get support for the application. In addition, the developer frequents the channel and is very amenable to receving comments or suggestions.
This Update: The new Chat Filter feature is (or could be) great. It has such future potential, but as the documentation example shows, it is limited to certain areas at this point. Hopefully, if it were also able to respond to join/part (joined and left channel) messages (ideally with user info also avaialeble to the filter), had things like time/timer triggers, could add to the ignore list, etc, then this could become a really powerful feature of Textual. Doing things like notifying when users in your area (based on ISP) join, automatically setting spam bots to ignore, warning and handling various things when certain users join, etc, etc would be nice, but as it is now, none of those are possible. I’m hoping this new feature will be made even more versatile. In General: Almost my fav IRC client for Mac. The number of bugs have decreased, but there are still a fair number of minor but also obvious and annoying ones. There are also still a lot of basic features missing from what is almost a full feature IRC client, mainly in the area of managing an address (nickname) book with notes, actions, highlight, highlight on list, track/ignore, etc. As it is now, it is even difficult to simply ignore users (you can ignore, but if you want to do it by nickname, which I’d say is the most common way, you have to go through multiple menus and know how to enter a complicated mask; even light clients typically have a right-click on nickname and choose-ignore feature. Other bugs/inconsistancies related to the way /ignore is handled, a pretty significant thing, and ones related to current room names loosing highlight, popup info sticking, etc. Also things like styles not updating properly, and other significant but not often used things not working right. But one of the biggest drawbacks, that started in version 5, is that it uses unexplainable amounts of CPU power, often going over 100% for extended periods (100% = one of multiple CPUs). Still the same in this update (and the last). Scrolling chats has become painful, hesitating, lagging, jumping, and being almost non-interactive, and very sloooow, unpleasant and frustrating. That problem didn’t exist before version 5; however, it is also possible it is due to the style (since I had to change to equinox which I now love the look of). Lots of little bugs, mostly annoying leaving an unpolished/unprofessional feel to it in some ways, but the core is solid and it basically works. The CPU issue really needs to be looked into, this program clearly hasn’t been profiled/analyzed and made to run effeciently or well, and that may be a large part of the scrolling problem (or not). The scrolling is at the point of a deal breaker, even on new empty chats with no pics it hesitates to start scrolling but otherwise works with only a little jitter, but use it for a few hours, with only a few channels active, with a limited amount of pics displayed, and it’s horrible. It’s just simple scrolling, it should be instant, smooth, and not bring a powerful computer to a crawl. There is a lot of potential in this software; hopefully it can get that extra polish and tuning.
Textual is a simple and easy to use IRC client that conforms to the OS X aesthetic. It integrates easily with the IRC protocol and extensions (NickServ, etc.) to give you an all-around good time chatting on the web.
Need not say more.
Need to rename from “Textural 5.app” to “Textural.app”.
This is the best irc clien i’ve ever used. worth for every penny
I was looking for a IRC client and I found this one. Great app, and great developer. Keep doing good job. :)
I’ve been using Colloquy for a while, and with OS X 10.9, I needed to really find something that was a supported product - the Open Source team on Colloquy seemed to be going in the mobile direction, and that’s perfect for them… but for me, I needed an OS X client that was both beautiful and solid. Textual 4, and now 5 is just that - beautiful and solid. I’ve been on xchat for years, but this is how it should be done. Fantastic job.
I have been using Textual 5 during the beta period and absolutley love it. It is feature rich and yet light weight and responsive. It was a no brainer for me to purchase it once it was realeased on the App store. It is hands down the best IRC client for the Mac. Great work guys!!!
I was skeptical of paying again (I have Textual 4, too), but there are enough changes in 5 to justify the upgrade. Just buy it. It looks much better in Yosemite than Textual 4 did, and it’s a great app.
This app has pretty much everything I want from an IRC client: pretty themes, ZNC support, SSL with cert validation, plugins, username autocompletion, etc. Some of the default shortcuts are a little annoying (ctrl + shift + tab to switch active channels), but it’s by far my favorite client. Much better than Linkinus or Limechat.
The way that IRC should be accessed in 2014. This application is great!
